JOB SUMMARY:

The Center for Healthier Communities houses several Positive Youth Development programs, including Bridge to Employment, a program introducing youth to careers in science and healthcare conducted in collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceuticals; FACES for the Future, a multi-year healthcare career pipeline program for economically and socially disadvantaged high school students in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego; and the Summer Medical Academy. The role of the Program Coordinator, Youth Development, is to plan and implement the Bridge to Employment program, including coordinating activities with the sponsoring company and with the advising organizations; serve as a liaison in developing and implementing new programs aligned with the FACES program; develop and implement continuing Summer Medical Academy programs, including potential Advanced Academy offerings; and additional youth developmental duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree
2 years of experience
Current & Valid CA Driver License
Proof of Auto Insurance
Experience working with a diverse adolescent population
General knowledge of high school and secondary education
General knowledge of current healthcare delivery systems and healthcare careers
Proficient with MS Office
Area of study: Social Work, Education, Public Health, Counseling, Business, Health or Human Services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree
3 years of experience
Area of study: Social Work, Public Health, Education or related field
Bilingual in English/Spanish or Vietnamese
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and priorities
Demonstrated knowledge of community health/social services and resources in City Heights
Experience with program development
