Lawyers Club of San Diego Director of Programming
Overview: This position requires programming and project management experience, a high level of initiative, sound judgment, and excellent customer service and communication skills. The successful candidate will represent Lawyers Club by upholding a professional and respectful attitude and presenting oneself accordingly and in line with Lawyers Club’s mission. The position reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Using sound judgment and working independently and as part of a team, provide project and event management for assigned committees and programs from beginning to end, including planning, preparation, management and execution, to ensure successful high quality, well-attended programs and events reflective of the organization and the profession.
Major responsibilities include:
− Develop, implement and supervise project timelines, manage event logistics, secure and disseminate program materials, produce marketing materials, and make decisions necessary for successful projects.
− Ensure MCLE compliance; conduct follow-up surveys, analyze and prepare reports for use by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
− Oversee master events calendar, research community events to allow appropriate spacing and avoid conflicts.
− Develop strategies and tactics for member recruitment, engagement and retention.
− Coordinate and track annual membership dues and renewals including invoicing and processing payments. Respond to requests from members and prospective members.
− Maintain website, determining and ensuring content is fresh, current, accurate, and relevant, and that format/structure is functioning correctly at all times.
− Administer member database ensuring accuracy and security. Post content to social media outlets.
− Develop new technological capabilities to further enhance the member experience.
− Provide training and assistance to volunteer leadership and members in their use of the website.
− Participate in meetings.
− Make decisions regarding and help ensure all matters requiring attention are promptly addressed as appropriate or are redirected to the appropriate parties; follow up as necessary.
− As a valued team member, provide backup to staff on office projects and routines. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Competency:
− BA or BS degree and minimum 3 years’ experience in programming, events planning, project management, or association management responsibilities.
− Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, database association management software, website and social media administration and management.
− Must be self-motivated, innovative, resourceful; a team player who works independently and who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, working under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities, using high degree of professionalism and sound judgment. Must convey outstanding, pleasant, and helpful customer-relations attitude and possess strong computer, database, organizational, communications and interpersonal skills, and work both collaboratively and independently. Highly efficient, detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving and oral and written communications skills to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively with a broad constituency. Excellent interpersonal skills including tact, integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy and flexibility.
Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:00; must be able to work some early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as necessary during events, meetings and special programs. Position is in an office and requires attendance at offsite venues; a car is necessary. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, walking, carrying and lifting up to approximately 20 lbs., in addition to significant time working on a computer. Salary is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes vacation, holiday and sick time, in accordance with policies. Paid parking.
