Groundwork San Diego seeks a part-time community outreach coordinator to develop and deliver a public education program for businesses within the Chollas Creek watershed subject to an NPDES Industrial General Permit (IGP). The program’s goal is to assist businesses to bring properties and activitie s into compliance with the California Industrial General Permit requirements. This will have a positive impact on water quality within the Chollas Creek watershed, which has been identified as a water quality priority for San Diego County, and will assist small businesses in remaining in compliance.

 Develop printed materials in English and Spanish (initially) to assist business owners to bring their business into compliance with IGP requirements.
 Develop an education program consisting of one-on-one meetings and site visits to a minimum of 30 businesses to assist business ownersin achieving compliance with IGP requirements.
 Train community and student volunteers to undertake one-on-one meetings and site visits.
 Complete an assessmentreport describing project activities and initial results, and outlining the results as a plan for promoting the program throughout the Chollas Creek Watershed.

 BA (4-year degree or equivalent)
 Excellent organizational and writing skills
 Adept with social media and basic computer programs (word, excel, powerpoint)
 Able to work independently and self-direct projects
 Able to communicate effectively and work as a team
 Five years’ experience in community outreach
 Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to climate action and climate justice
 Fluent in Spanish

Position Details
The position is part-time (20hrs per week), $18/hr. (no benefits). Schedule must be flexible and include occasional weekends.
